8vo. (9 x 6 inches). pp.xxxviii + 408 + 2 (advert); 472. Wood-engraved vignettes throughout. Original diced green cloth, lettered in gilt to spine. Slightly faded to spine, trifle wear to head and foot and outer joints. Original yellow coated endpapers to volume I darkened. Armorial bookplate to both pastedowns. Some spotting to prelims and extrems, with trifle occasional spotting. Original owner's copperplate Analytical Index to the Contents of this Book sewn in between pp.xxvi and xxvii [the start of The General Index]. The Analytical Index comprises 7 sides of handwritten entries in black and red ink on lined paper. Five columns: Order, Family, Species, Vol, Page. A very good set. Oversize or heavy books, requiring extra postage.
