4to. (11.5 x 9.25 inches). pp.x + 111 + 17 [glossary] + 18 [engraved music]. B/w engraved portrait frontis + 12 aquatint plates, hors texte. Full original calf, title in black compartment to spine. Calf trifle marked and worn to corners. Armorial boookplate to front pastedown. Signature of Allardyce Nicoll to front free endpaper, written faintly and discretely in pencil [and scarcely legible]. Half-title, portrait, title, dedication, advertisement all present. Some staining to front of lower edge but curiously affecting bottom corner of plate margins only. No foxing or marks to textblock. Trifle light spotting here and there to plates. O/w clean and bright. David Allan artist. A very good copy indeed.
